Hello
My name is Olwen Lockett and I joined the leadership team last year. Longton ELIM Living Springs is a beautiful fellowship that I have belonged to for most of the 38 years I have belonged to Jesus.
I am married to Bob and we have no children. I worked in the pottery industry until 2003 when the Beswick factory was closed. After that, I cared for my precious elderly parents and my youngest sister who had MS. All have now gone to be with our wonderful Lord, mum being the most recent. She needed 24/7 care, she survived a stroke and breast cancer and for the last 9 years she was diagnosed with Alzheimer. God is so faithful and through many difficulties I have learned to trust Him. His love and mercy are new every morning.
Through, the support of prayer and my brothers and sisters in Christ we came through. The Lord gave myself and such love for each other and gave mum joy for most of the time, and we kept her at home with her loved ones until she passed safely into the arms of Jesus. I am so thankful to the Lord for that as there was no way I could have done it without His constant love and His word. I love God’s word, it has and will always be my guide, strength, joy and encouragement. Sometimes I share the word of God at church. I am also a member of Aspire-2-connect, which is a great women’s ministry. We have had some lovely conferences where women can take time out and join together as sisters and be encouraged in their faith, and just have a bit of peace, joy and an uplifting time together. It is a real honour and privilege to serve the Lord along with Pastor Paul and Lynne and all the other very special leaders in our fellowship.
This year I am challenged to know, love and enjoy Jesus forever and to bring honour to His name, my prayer for you all is the same, God bless and keep you in His loving care
Hi my name is Joan Edworthy.
I came to Longton Elim in 1988 after being saved in South Africa during a visit to my daughter. I am widowed with 4 children, 3 granddaughter's and 6 great grandchildren. My late husband was saved in 1990 and we had 14 amazing years at the church worshipping and serving the Lord together.
I've been involved with the Babies and Toddlers group for over 30years and often see those who came years ago bringing their children or the ones they are childminding. We now have one of those mothers on our Tots team. I was involved with the luncheon club for many years too, managing it for 7 of those years.
It's a great privilege to be involved with the prayer line, praying for the sick and those in need of support in any way. I've been on the leadership team for 20years and it's a joy (although a great responsibility) to serve the Lord in this way. I pray the decisions we make are beneficial to the church and our community, showing the Love of Jesus to everyone.

Growing in Jesus

At the heart of our relationship with Jesus is that we have the peace and security in our hearts that we are saved in our relationship with Jesus and also on the journey in which our relationship with Jesus so that we can gain confidence and assurance of growing in love and fulfilling all that Jesus would desire for our lives, as Jesus says "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full" (John10:10),  Here at Longton Elim Church Living Springs our desire is that you can easily see that promise from Jesus experienced in your life. In many ways this is achieved through our loving relationship with Jesus and the fellowship we have with Christian friends along life's journey, but we also are aware that we can provide a spiritual pathway which will bless your life as a believer. we hope that you will be able to make the most of the ministries we have available. There are a number of ministries that might be of help for you in your relationship with the Lord:

Discipleship Course: Special questions; special answers

God loves us and cares for us and as we engage in conversation with him our questions to Him are valued and important. The discipleship course allows us to ask questions about prayer, reading the bible, our relationship with God, water baptism and other topics. Jesus is interested in speaking to our lives and so as we engage with the course it gives us opportunity to grow in our relationship with Jesus.

Water Baptism Course

This is a three part course which looks at the biblical guidance for adult water baptism. As folk have come on the course or enquired through our discipleship course there has been a deeper understanding of the teaching behind adult water baptism and an excitment that we can choose as adults to be water baptised.

Membership Course

Once we have realised that we have found a church that we can call home in our relationship with Jesus one of the ways in which we can strengthen our ties with the church family is to enquire about membership or as some churches describe "partnership". The membership course is an excellent course for you to learn more about membership and have the choice whether to take a step into membership.

Check out Small Groups and see if there’s one that you could join, or we can put you in touch with a small group leader who will be more than happy to invite you along to their group.
